It was a good day today, hanging out with Tony.
The first two photos are of him reading his Jarvis Cocker book after watching a fantastic film about Pulp. The second is the view from his window of spring in full bloom.

Today was beautiful, but freezing!! Literally…
My son had to play his soccer game this morning in 30 degree weather. Needless to say, he was quite cold. It was my first time watching his team this season, and he scored the first goal! (he’s the one with the hat and long pants, as he hates to be cold!)
I sometimes go back and look through my old film shots and scan them in to my computer.
These are two shots I took at the beach long ago, probably the early 90s. I’m missing the beach right now, and these images bring me closer to the sea.
I love fog.
It’s mysterious and perfect for photography. It was a great foggy morning on the way to work today, so I snapped a few quick shots.
Time to take my daughter back to college after her spring break…
Tony and I drove her up and stopped at my favorite restaurant in Black Mountain.
In 1993 I had a dream of buying some land and turning it into a therapeutic farm for kids.
I looked at this property and it was perfect, save for the fact that I couldn’t afford it, nor would I have been able to start such a big venture without the right support. But I loved the farm and it stayed in my heart.
Last year I drove by the farm and it was in terrible disrepair. It broke my heart to see the once beautiful property in such dire need. But alas, the story has a happy ending.
Recently the farm was purchased by former professional basketball player Rusty LaRue and his family. The LaRues are painstakingly restoring the farm to its former glory. I couldn’t be happier.
I had an idea to do a photo shoot at the farm with some of my photo league students. We were able to shoot there today on this amazingly beautiful day thanks to the gracious LaRue family.
This is what it’s all about for me. Taking time outside in the beautiful weather to photograph. It was a glorious day.
There are lots of photos to look at here…and yes, there is an old piano on the front porch! It was found on the property, among many other old treasures.
I recently found these old photos of me when I had just turned 4 years old.
It explains how deep my love of horses is. I’ve been riding since I was 3 years old. Here I am sporting the new cowgirl outfit I had gotten for my 4th birthday, right down to my new red riding boots. I still have the hat. Wish I still had the boots!
The horse I am on is Big Red. The man beside me in one of the photos is Mr. Simpson, who owned the farm. My mom tells the story of how I was sitting on Red when I was 3 years old, and he took off running. My mom panicked, but apparently I had a blast and stayed on his back as I bounced along laughing!
