It’s getting harder and harder for me to keep up with this blog.

I’m taking photos every day, but the speed of my life has made it difficult for me to post them. I’m going to make more of an effort to keep up, but we’ll see what happens.

Four months into this project and I’m starting to rethink it.  My initial purpose for doing this was to have a photo log of my 50th year.  I’ve accomplished this so far, so that’s good.  But my underlying goal was to improve my photography by making myself work, forcing myself to pick up my camera every day.  That hasn’t been so successful.  I’ve found myself just taking ordinary photos to make sure that I get something up on the site.  I’m not pushing myself to take extraordinary photos.  That comes when I have a job to do, or when I have a stretch of time to really focus on my photography, which isn’t very often.

So today is an ordinary photo.  I’ll keep trying, though, and we’ll see how it goes as the year progresses.

We found a stray dog today on the way back home from my mom’s house.

He was standing in the middle of the road, confused and without any kind of identification.  We asked the neighbors if they knew who he belonged to, and they didn’t know. So, at my daughter’s begging, we took him home.  He is a sweetheart and we have enjoyed our brief time with him.

I put ads everywhere and contacted all of the local shelters.  I think we’ve found his owners, so fingers crossed!

My antique doll collection creeps most people out.

I have hundreds of dolls that I collected throughout my childhood.  I love their faces.  They don’t scare me at all. Some of them are so expressive.  So I decided to work on a new photo series called Life to the Lifeless.

Here are a few shots from today.

I’m back in the studio tonight with another Vintage Glamour shoot.

This time with Andrew, who did a great job of looking like a 1940s mob boss or suave actor.  Oh how I love studio work…

This is the one and only Johnny Marr, guitarist for The Smiths.

A guitar hero of mine, is Johnny.  I got to meet him in November of 2013 and he was lovely.  I took lots of photos that night and this is one of them.

So why am I posting it today?  I don’t know.  It has nothing to do with anything from today except that I posted it on my Instagram account today for again, no apparent reason.

Here’s Johnny!

My son and I worked hard in the yard today.

I have a top level in my backyard that is covered in ivy and vines.  I want to clear it all out and put in wildflowers and trees.

So far, so good…
