Two odd self-portraits for you today.

One is my reflection in a photo of a horse that I had previously taken.  The other is my work-boot-clad foot shot through my car’s steering wheel.

I had my colonoscopy today.

Oddly enough, it was a wonderful day. The procedure went well and Tony had to come with me to drive me home.  They only found a small polyp during the procedure and removed it, the anesthesia went well and was brilliant, and it was comforting to me to know that Tony would be there when I woke up.

He drove me home and I rested at his apartment for the rest of the day, and had my first solid food in nearly 48 hours!

The first two photos are of my drive to Tony’s before the procedure. There was an eerie mist this morning, and I was quite nervous at this time.  The second photo is when Tony was driving me home after the procedure.  There was a big “T” in the sky, which I thought was quite a perfect nod to Tony and what he means to me.  The last photo is what I saw all day from the bed as I lay about.

Wonderful days can happen when you least expect them…

3-1Today was not much fun.

If any of you have had a colonoscopy, you know that prep day is far worse than the procedure itself.  I had to stay home today and drink only liquid and laxatives.

By the end of the day, I had lost 7 pounds and was exhausted!

My only photo of the day was of my drinking bottle, which I had to keep filling…

It’s my last day of eating normally for the next two days…

so I’m just going to relax and enjoy myself.  Tomorrow I have to start prepping for my colonoscopy on Monday, so I had better enjoy the day while I can!

I put Tony’s desk on display last week, so here’s a few things on mine…

My handy-dandy Panasonic Panapet transistor radio that I’ve had since the 1970s, some odd coins, a petrified sea biscuit, and a plastic misfit toy from the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer movie.  I still use my radio (I’m listening to it as I type), and it is tuned to a local AM station that plays music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Perfect!

Today was what it’s all about to me…

It snowed a beautiful, deep snow last night.  After keeping warm in the morning, my son and I went for a two-hour walk at Reynolda Village, both of us with cameras in hand. When I first started this blog, a day like today is what I had in mind: taking my camera on a walk and photographing whatever called to me.  Having my son along was a great bonus, and I enjoyed watching him photograph as well. So here’s just a small portion of the photos I took. I experimented with different lenses and toning and had a blast.

And spending that time with my son outdoors was the best part…

I went to Riverwood again today, and had a wonderful time with the horses.

That place just gives me a sense of peace like no other.  I’m glad I volunteer there.

(And a shout out to my sister-in-law Peggy on her 60th birthday!  Happy birthday to George Harrison as well…)

It snowed again today, quite unexpectedly!

Here it is, 6:30 a.m., as it is just starting to fall.

I found an old hat box that used to belong to my grandmother.

Even though it is falling apart, I love the graphics.  I tried to photograph as much of it as I could before it totally falls apart.
